Over the past few years, we’ve developed exciting and innovative technology to help us with our projects. One of these new tools, is our HEAP tool. Its focus is to help us detect which postcodes a client should, and shouldn’t, be reaching out to. We spoke to John Burke, Digital Insight, about the new tool and why he thinks it’ll help us with our future projects.

The tool has been created to be used by our Tech and Service & Performance Teams mainly. The tool provides location level scoring for different institutions based on their digital impact in that location.

It’s allowed us to use higher level data processing tools, like APIs through the Google Cloud Platform, combining multiple data sets, something we haven’t done previously with this type of data. It also allows us to optimise our campaigns on post code performance data, connecting our campaign delivery to insight projects we deliver for clients (e.g. segmentation). It’s an additional level of insight that we didn’t previously have when analysing campaign performance.

It encouraged me to learn a lot of new things on platforms we hadn’t implemented before. We’re now looking to use similar methods for combining further internal data, enhancing our current reporting capabilities and so much more!
