Setting the scene


Crayon is a global IT optimisation and innovation company that is deeply committed to DEIB.

DEIB is woven into their core values and shapes their actions and decisions at every level of the organisation.

As part of their DEIB strategy, Crayon was running its first organisational-wide DEIB survey.

SMRS helped Crayon understand their current DEIB position and develop impactful and targeted initiatives; making a measurable difference to the organisation as a whole, and the people within it. 

Our approach


Crayon distributed a DEIB specific survey to all 4,500 employees, exploring work culture and environment (Inclusion & Belonging), experience of equal opportunity and own experiences (Equity), reflections and feedback.

SMRS’ experts worked closely with Crayon’s DEIB and People and Culture leads to provide: 

  • guidance and best practice support with the survey platform and technology

  • data processing, cleansing and analysis

  • development of bespoke data tables

  • online dashboards and insights

  • an in-depth report with insights, actionable recommendations, and suggested priorities.

A new way forward for Crayon


As a result of the survey, Crayon was able to provide feedback to the business and share headline insights. Some suggestions for improvements included transparent communication regarding diversity and inclusion, and greater support and resources for neuodivergent and disabled colleagues.

In direct response to the project, Crayon launched several key initiatives, such as an Inclusive Communication training for leaders, and  a Neurodiversity Awareness Month. The analysis also contributed towards Crayon being awarded Ecovadis Gold status.
