How we’re rethinking collaboration from the inside out.

Collaboration is broken (but not in the way you think).

Let’s start with a paradox. We’ve never been more connected, yet we’ve never felt more disconnected.

We move from meeting to meeting. Messages pile up. Every day, there’s a new platform to navigate. And yet collaboration feels slower, harder and more draining than ever.

The research backs this up:

  • 65% of our working week is spent in meetings, emails or messages.
  • 57% of employees say those meetings aren’t productive.
  • Only 26% of employees strongly agree that their opinions count at work.

Sound familiar?

We’ve seen this happen again and again in the organisations we support, no matter what sector, size or location.

Which is why we decided to do something different…

JOYN In: a live experiment in connection, energy and play.

We didn’t want to just talk about collaboration. Instead of being required to, we wanted people to be inspired to collaborate.

We designed JOYN In as a human-centred, interactive workshop. A demonstration of what’s possible when people reconnect and find the joy in working together.

It was a carefully crafted experiment in creative permission. In giving people the space, stimulus and psychological safety to work better together.

What happened in the room?

People talked. Not just about roles or responsibilities, but about who they really were.

We kicked off with a deceptively simple prompt: “If you knew me, you’d know…”

In this 10-minute window, people were laughing, bonding and revealing more about themselves than most team meetings manage in a month.

We explored different types of collaborators, from Drivers and Harmonisers to Observers and Challengers, and asked: how do you get the best out of each one?

We looked at what gets in the way of working well together:

  • Unclear roles.
  • Too many tools.
  • Excessive meetings.
  • Low psychological safety.

But because everyone knows these challenges all too well (and experiences them regularly), we flipped the script.

Instead of asking how to fix collaboration, we asked: What would it look like if collaboration actually energised people? How do we make working together feel like an opportunity, not a penalty?

The truth is, collaboration doesn’t need another framework. It needs a mindset shift.

Meaningful collaboration doesn’t come from scheduling more meetings. It comes from intention, expression and trust. From culture, connection and joy

And that’s the mindset behind JOYN.

So, what is JOYN?

JOYN isn’t a product. It’s a creative, strategic response to the collaboration crisis.

At its core, JOYN is a suite of unique tools and experiences that help organisations reimagine how their people connect (and help culture thrive as a result).

Each part of JOYN tackles a different barrier to meaningful connection, from siloed teams and burnt-out managers to vague values and low trust.

JOYN Voice get under the surface of how people actually work together. Using organisational network analysis, conversations and surveys, we uncover who holds influence, who’s isolated and how energy flows through your organisation.

JOYN Together unlocks connection, defines purposes and builds real momentum for teams through playbooks and interactive workshops.

JOYN Leadership develops leaders to build trust, clarity and empowerment in their teams and helps them to hold collaborative space based on curiosity and coonnection.

JOYN Influence identifies an organisation’s culture-shapers. Those who people naturally listen to, follow and feel inspired by - and equips them to lead change from within.

JOYN Identity unites teams who feel disconnected, undefined or adrift by shaping a sense of shared purpose, values and direction.

JOYN is designed to be creative, not corporate. Playful, but powerful. Rooted in behavioural science, emotional intelligence and creative thinking.

We’re not here to tell people how to behave. We’re here to give them the clarity, tools and belief they need to show up and build something better, together.
